Row Homes playing Kung Fu Necktie next week(04/12)

Row Homes

The new Philly band, Row Homes, has a sound made up of a combination of an effect driven guitar mixed with a more traditional indie rock guitar. To compliment the two guitars, they have a very solid, intricate rhythm section with their bass and drums and to top it all off, their lead singer has a very smooth and powerful voice. At the moment, they don’t having any recordings to share so you’re just going to have to trust me on this one.

They have their first headlining gig at Kung Fu Necktie next Tuesday, April 12th along with Coup Couroux, Party The Hut and Momentous. Tickets for the show can be found HERE or at the door.

Row Homes, a new band from Philly, played Connie’s Ric Rac in South Philadelphia on Friday night as part as the “Folk You Philly Takeover Showcase”. The night was filled with acoustic, folk music and when Row Homes came on, that all changed. They were by the far the loudest and most electric band of the night. You can read a more detailed review over at Folk You Philly. Check some photos of Row Homes’ set below.

Row Homes play Connie’s Ric Rac tonight w/ Ron Gallo and more

Row Homes are a brand new Philly band who have quite a history together. They all grew up in the same town and attended the same high school, but they all did their own thing in college, kind of. Alex Savoth, second tallest guy/singer/bassist, and Michael Murray, second shortest guy/guitarist, went to Syracuse University together and played in band, To The Ruins, while Dan King, tallest guy/guitarist, stayed in Philly and went to Temple University. He’s already well-rooted in the Philly music seen; you may recognize him from Holly Billaday, but more likely as the former guitarist of Toy Soldiers. The final piece of the band is Gusten Rudolph, the drummer. He’s still in school at Rutgers University, studying jazz performance. His band mates send him demos regularly so he can see what they’re up to while he’s away. Ruldolph makes the trip from North Jersey weekly though to jam with his mates.

Together they have a tightness and bond where each member plays their part and compliments one another well. Their sound combines pretty vocals, gritty guitars and precise drums. They kind of remind of The Walkmen plus Grizzly Bear with a mix of The Antlers and Real Estate.   They don’t have any music to share just yet, but the four guys are set to record a handful of songs this month. We’ll be sure to pass them along when we get a hold of them.

You can check them out tonight at Connie’s Ric Rac in South Philly. They’re sharing the bill with several others including Ron Gallo(lead man of Toy Soldiers), Allison Polans, Spirit and Dust, and a few more. There are no advance tickets so just show up and enjoy.
