Mountain Man announce tour dates(Philly show in July) + share new MP3

leave a comment »

The three ladies who make up the folk band Mountain Man announced that they will be embarking on month long tour starting in July. They released their debut album Made The Harbor last fall via Partisan Records. It showcased the trio’s beautiful vocal harmonies and minimalist approach to their music. You’ll be able to get a feel for that in the video and MP3 below.

Their tour will bring them to Philly on Monday, July 25th where they’ll play the intimate Chapel of the First Unitarian Church. It’s the ideal venue for their music. Tickets for the show are not on sale yet, but when they do, we’ll post a link.

Sun Airway

Johnny Brendas is hosting another triple header bill tonight. This time around it will be an indie-electro bill, instead of a folk bill.  The three acts playing tonight are Bear In Heaven, Twin Shadow and Philly duo Sun Airway. The latter two have been making quite a name for themselves as of late with their debut LPs. Bear In Heaven just released an album of remixes that received mixed reviews. I posted a bunch of MP3s so you can check out their tunes for yourself.

Tickets are still available for tonight’s show at Johnny Brendas. You can get them HERE or try your luck at the door.

DOWNLOAD: Jenny O. – Well, Ok Honey

Jenny O. originally comes from New York but it wasn’t until she moved out to sunny California that she really found herself. Out there she developed her west coast style–simple laid back guitars, soft soothing vocals and a SoCal vibe. She has a new EP titled Home coming November 30th via Manimal Vinyl Records(Warpaint and Bat For Lashes) that will encompass all that she stands for. You can download and listen to the track “Well, Ok Honey” above. Enjoy!

Volcano Choir played their first live shows ever in Japan

leave a comment »

Lately, I’ve been obsessing over a song by Volcano Choir(Justin Vernon from Bon Iver side project) that is a little over a minute long . Every time I listen, I wish that it would just go on for another 10 minutes. Sadly, it doesn’t. These guys just played live for the first time the other day in Japan. Hopefully, they’ll bring their show to the States sometime soon. Check out the performance and “Cool Knowledge”(my recent obsession) below.
