Interpol to play Lincoln Financial Field with U2?

leave a comment »

Interpol members have been pretty busy since their 2007 record, Our Love To Admire. Paul Banks(aka Julian Plenti) released a solo album, Julian Plenti is…. Skyscraper and toured in select cities. He played in Philly last November. Also, drummer Sam Fogarino teamed up with former Swervedriver front man Adam Franklin and released an album as Magnetic Morning.

Last November, Fogarino gave some insight into Interpol’s next record via an interview with Paste. He mentioned that the new record will stray from their most recent release and go back to their debut record, Turn Out The Bright Lights. If you’re not familiar with Interpol, this is very, very good news. Turn Out The Bright Lights was one of the best records of the 2000’s.

A string of US tour dates with U2 were just announced yesterday. That means Interpol will play in a big ass spaceship looking thing, which U2 displayed on their 2009 world tour. Interpol and U2 will play the Lincoln Financial Field on Monday, July 12th. Ticket are a very pricey and they can be found HERE.

Hopefully, Interpol will release their new record soon and announce a separate tour in support. Information on that to come.

Interpol 2010 tourdates with U2:
06/27 – Minneapolis, MN – TCF Bank Stadium
06/30 – East Lansing, MI – Spartan Stadium
07/03 – Toronto, Ontario – Rogers Centre
07/06 – Chicago, IL – Soldier Field
